Boken Broad Sword

Sword #4: This is the sword for all of the Cloud "wanna be's" from Final Fantasy or a Zubuza fans from Naruto. I helped a friend finish this giant "cricket bat" a few months ago, I just haven't gotten around to photographing it until now. He did the rough cut for the silhouette of outside edges of this sword, I did the final angular cuts and did all of the sanding and put the first coat of finish on the blade. The main portion of the blade is made from leftover 5ft scrap piece of 2x10" and the hilt has 2 pieces leftover 1/2 inch scraps of plywood glued onto the end of the sword. The sword took about 2 weeks to finish due to the amount of wood I had to cut through and length of blade I had to sand. This is so far the largest sword I have ever built, the blade 6" wide wile the whole sword is about 4 and a half feet long. You'd have to be a viking to be using one of these swords on a daily basis. When it comes to using sparing weapons or any other training weapon I still like to use the spear.
